Over the last 40 years: The Raumaster team jersey – 30 years of rinkball
Since the beginning, employee wellbeing and team spirit have been high on the list of priorities at Raumaster. An important part of this are the company sports teams and joint training sessions.
In 1985, Raumaster staff took part in the Rauma area company league in rinkball for the first time. The first ever team for a tournament held in Laitila was formed together with engineering office Länsitekniikka Oy.
The red team jerseys were prepared by Rauma-based Rituli. The Raumaster logo was printed on the front, while the Länsitekniikka logo was printed on the back. On the sleeves, logos of the sponsors Osuuspankki and Sampo were printed, as well as the logo of Matkayhtymä on the lower part of the back. Each player got to pick their own jersey number.
These jerseys were used by the Raumaster team until 1995, when they were replaced by better-ventilated mesh jerseys.
The team held a joint training session once a week, also taking part in national company championships. In Rauma, outdoor games were played at Otanlahti, Lähdepelto and Uotila, and later at the Rauma Training Ice Rink and the Vermuntila Ice Rink.
When the popularity of rinkball declined, the company sport changed to ice hockey in 2014, and the sport has been played since at the Rauma Tuki Arena. Traditionally, the last game of the season is held between the office and the warehouse employees. After the game, the evening usually continues with a sauna.
Throughout the decades, the company teams have taken part in leagues and events also in sports such as football and floorball. Additionally, the company had a long-held tennis share at the Sports Centre Troppi.
