Raumaster Paper Oy has successfully completed the construction of a new assembly hall at its Pori premises, right on schedule. The opening ceremony was held in December 2024. This new facility supports the continuation and expansion of the company’s operations on its own plot, simultaneously offering new amenities for staff.

Where there was only an empty gravel field just last summer, now stands the new Raumaster Paper Oy assembly hall, located at the company’s premises on Lasitie, Pori. The hall project marks the largest individual investment in the company’s history, and as a project it has not only been very ambitious, but also extremely successful.

In recent years, the volume of orders has increased, creating a need for more space on company grounds. Simultaneous projects often lead to space constraints, which were temporarity resolved by renting additional space locally. Now, all company operations can be found at the same address, on the company’s own plot.

"Operational capacity has been designed to exceed our current needs. This investment will serve us for decades, if not centuries, providing an undeniable competitive edge,” says Pekka Leino, Managing Director of Raumaster Paper.

Record-speed progress

Initial research for the project began in summer 2023, with the official investment decision made in January 2024. Construction commenced later that spring.

”Time management in this case has been incredibly effective. When we received the final legal decision on a Monday, the digging work began the following Wednesday," Leino recalls.

Despite naturally occurring challenges, the project faced virtually no delays and was completed entirely with local subcontractors and labour.

”We have been able to make big decisions on a tight schedule. It has required close collaboration between us and our subcontractors, with the schedule being so tight and the goals so ambitious,” says Supply Chain Manager Jonne Kerola.

The hall was handed over for company use mid-November in 2024, with the attached social space ready for staff use by early December.

Modern technology and new opportunities

The new hall boasts unique features including practically unsinkable floors, large-scale doors, a high electric supply enabled by a new distribution substation, and welding rails for precise machine mounting.

The new facilities also bring significant advantages for occupational health and safety, as well as the efficiency and convenience of daily work. The new dressing rooms and break rooms were designed in collaboration with the company's professionals, all the way from interior design and colour palette.

"In designing and finishing the facilities, we have strived to listen to our professionals as much as possible throughout the entire project. This has been very important to us," Jonne Kerola says.

The new hall allows all future equipment to be assembled and tested at the company’s own facilities, which saves both economic and ecological costs. Energy efficiency has also been a key consideration.

”The hall utilises modern technology, which through space and handling capacity also enables product development. The world is wide open for us,” Kerola sums up.
